"The only real elegance is in the mind; if you’ve got that, the rest really comes from it." — Diana Vreeland

I survived...well sort-of... the first quarter of medical school! Whew, that was something ...
I started really strong, but can't say the same about the end. :(
However, I do think I have figured out a study style that works for me and now I just gotta stick to it!

For the meantime, I am on vacation ... yes, you heard it right ... vacation! :)
I have a week to be lazy, sleep-in, read blogs, read books (non-academic of course :p), run ... yep, I am one of those who consider running a FUN activity ... and may be make few more posts.. may be. :p

Well, here is an outfit I wore not-so-long ago.

Best thing about this outfit are the precious gems that I found in my local antique/thrift stores:
Square Scarf ($4) and Tweed Jacket ($7) by Talbot!
I am really digging thrift shoppin' and have not bought anything (for myself) from a department store or for full price for last 5 or so months.
I think I am allowed to call myself a proud thrifter now! Won't ya agree?

"My mom would put me in these preppy little suits and slick my hair to the side. I have these baby pictures of me where I'm this little preppy kid with a sweater tied around my neck." - Alexander Wang

When I was little, I insisted on having outfits that matched my mother's. My favorites were those that were made using the same fabric as my mother's outfit. My mother didn't slick my hair to the side, but put them in either pig tails or "princess Leia buns". Yep, "princess Leia buns"!
And I wore my sweater around my waist, not my neck ...
However, I still like to think that I was a little "preppy" princess. :)

I wear my square scarf as a top!

Yes you heard that right ... I don't own enough tops, at least that's my thought every single morning. For some reason my eyes do not communicate well enough with my brain to register a full suitcase worth of tops in my closet. :p

Due to apparent lack of wearable tops, I decided to wear my thrifted square scarf as a top and loved the look of it! You ask how does that work?

Well, you take a sqaure scarf, fold it in half to make a triangle shape, place the folded scarf around your bust and tie the ends into a knot at your back ... as simple as that! Best thing about this top is that when you get bored of it, you can untie the knot and wear it as a scarf. :)
