Green Day

We Chicago-ians like to go all out on St Patrick's Day and dye our river green! No worries, it is a bio-degradable coloring substance, so it doesn't really make river any more dirtier than it already is.

The only green I could find in my closet was this teal-ish cardigan ... Hey, teal is a type of green or blue, no?

Top: Nordstorm Rack, Cardigan: Wet Seal, Belt: J-Crew Factory, Jeans: Levi's, Boots: Kohl's, Gloves: Target, Bracelets (which you can't see): E-bay

Beaches and Stars

Top and Skirt: Hand-Me-Downs / Boots: Kohl / Blazer: H&M / Gloves: Target / Bracelets: Gift and Ebay / Earrings: Target / Tights: Nordstrom Rack

The other day, I took my brother to see the beach nearby. It was freezing and we were the only people there! I love beaches in freezing winter, may be because then I can have the whole beach to myself! Yes, I am selfish that way. :p The beach was beautiful and oh the waves were humongous!

"Anyone can get dressed up and glamorous, but it is how people dress in their days off that are the most intriguing.” —Alexander Wang

My amazing grandma sewed this top for me!
Actually, she designed and sewed each and every one of my birthday outfits till my 15th birthday and all of my knitted sweaters are her creations. You can say that she likes to feed me and dress me! :)

And oh do you see that chain necklace?
It's not a necklace, but two of my bracelets linked together! *I am just so proud of myself right now..:p*

It's my very first time linkin' up with Kati from Incorporating Color! So here I go ..

The Good
I just bought tickets for the Chicago Bulls vs Miami Heat game on the 21st Feb! My brother will be visiting me for couple weeks, and I thought what can be better than takin' him to a live NBA game?!

The Bad
I am not where I wanted to be with my review/studying for two BIG combined exams I have next week. *Pouts*

The Ugly
Umm ... let's just say that those NBA tickets cost me fortune!

"I base most of my fashion taste on what doesn't itch."- Gilda Radner

You heard that right!
I base my fashion on what does not itch, hurt, stop me from breathing ... you get the idea?
Not the one to deal with the breakin' in period.

"I have often said that I wish I had invented blue jeans: the most spectacular, the most practical, the most relaxed and nonchalant. They have expression, modesty, sex appeal, simplicity - all I hope for in my clothes." - Yves Saint Laurent

... I don't think I need to say anything more; YSL said it all!

"The only real elegance is in the mind; if you’ve got that, the rest really comes from it." — Diana Vreeland

I survived...well sort-of... the first quarter of medical school! Whew, that was something ...
I started really strong, but can't say the same about the end. :(
However, I do think I have figured out a study style that works for me and now I just gotta stick to it!

For the meantime, I am on vacation ... yes, you heard it right ... vacation! :)
I have a week to be lazy, sleep-in, read blogs, read books (non-academic of course :p), run ... yep, I am one of those who consider running a FUN activity ... and may be make few more posts.. may be. :p

Well, here is an outfit I wore not-so-long ago.

Best thing about this outfit are the precious gems that I found in my local antique/thrift stores:
Square Scarf ($4) and Tweed Jacket ($7) by Talbot!
I am really digging thrift shoppin' and have not bought anything (for myself) from a department store or for full price for last 5 or so months.
I think I am allowed to call myself a proud thrifter now! Won't ya agree?

"Totem poles and wooden masks no longer suggest tribal villages but fashionable drawing rooms in New York and Paris." - Mason Cooley

Tribal print
Pop of color
Neutral color
Combination of the three

I would say I am all set for the Resort 2013 tribal trend! :) I might not wear this dress on a cruise ... but for sure will be wearing it with legging(s) and a trench coat throughout otherwise very cold, dark, and neutral winter.

Today, I am linking up to Real Girl Style!

"My mom would put me in these preppy little suits and slick my hair to the side. I have these baby pictures of me where I'm this little preppy kid with a sweater tied around my neck." - Alexander Wang

When I was little, I insisted on having outfits that matched my mother's. My favorites were those that were made using the same fabric as my mother's outfit. My mother didn't slick my hair to the side, but put them in either pig tails or "princess Leia buns". Yep, "princess Leia buns"!
And I wore my sweater around my waist, not my neck ...
However, I still like to think that I was a little "preppy" princess. :)

I wear my blacks with browns!

My cousin and I have spent past few days walking around Chi-town; riding CTA trains, sightseeing and eating at la famous restaurants. I moved to suburbs of Illinois last year, but thanks to my somewhat busy schedule and somewhat lazy attitude, didn't get much sightseeing done last year.
Good thing, I have at least four more years to see this city inside out! :)
